Every month, we at Pacific
Scuba Center will add photos from our dive trips and Pacific Ocean
Divers (POD) Dive Club events. If you took a camera along with you to
one of our events, bring the pictures by the store! We'll scan them
and put them up for everyone to see!
MICRONESIA
'2000 - PALAU & TRUK LAGOON
It was going to be a long
trip, but we all knew it would be worth it. Besides, isn't half the
fun just getting there? First, we needed to stop in Hawaii to meet Val
and John. We had a little surprise for them at the airport. I think
we surprised most of the people on the airplane too! Thanks to Dani,
we all had animal noses and silly string! Then, it's off to Guam for
our next stop! With all the shopping available in here, we had a great
layover. Our first night in Palau was spent at a small hotel and then
we had a great morning at the Palau Pacific Resort where we enjoyed
"shark attacks" while we waited for the Sun Dancer II crew to pick us
up. Looking back on it now, we should have known by the reaction of
this crew member that our group would be too much for this crew!! We
JUST wore our animal noses!!
Our week on Sun Dancer II
was amazing! Not only did we dive with whale sharks, reef sharks, manta
rays, eagle rays, and bumphead parrot fish, but we saw cuttle fish mating.
Our first "reef hook" dive at Fern's Wall was awesome!! We even dove
with Peter Hughes! And it just kept getting better. Our night dive at
Ngemeles Wall... the water is calm and there are a thousand stars in
the sky. The water is glowing with phosphorescene and the feeling is
exhilarating as we glide across the water in the "Magic Tram". I am
the last one on the boat and it is incredibly peaceful - just the familiar
clang of my equipment on the deck and the splash as I enter the water.
I see Dani below me and descend to her. Immediately, she is pointing
to a zillion critters. WOW! Back on the Sun Dancer, we are entertained
by our crew with fashion shows, slide shows and great video from Marcus.
Normally, we would be sad to leave the crew and boat after a week of
diving, but we are off to Truk Lagoon on the Truk Aggressor II.
As soon as we meet Capt.
Stew at the airport in Truk - we sense that he is going to take care
of us the week. Capt. Stew was awesome. From humorous dive briefings
with dances to slide shows at night, our Captain was there for us!!
Not only was the service and atmosphere on the Truk Aggressor the best,
the diving was a real history lesson! If you have never been diving
to Truk Lagoon, you should put it on you list of places to visit! It's
difficult to describe the feeling when you are sitting in a Japanese
Zero in the cargo hold of a Japanese freighter at 80'. You must go and
experience this!
After a few "last night"
tricks, we packed up and headed for home. We are sad to leave this boat
and these people, as they have touched our hearts!
It was a memorable Micronesian
vacation! Thanks to all of you for making it special.

Akumal
1999 - The Mayan Riviera
Our trip to Akumal in November was a memorable one! We stayed at the
Hotel Club Akumal Caribe which is located directly on the beach in the
very small village of Akumal. We arranged diving with the guys at Dive
Center Akumal and enjoyed their relaxed, stress-free pace. We enjoyed
diving in the beautiful waters of the Mexican Caribbean as well as the
fresh water Jungle Cenotes. We had the opportunity to dive 4 cenotes
including Grand Cenote, Car Wash, Taj Maha, and Dos Ojos. Exploring
the wonders of the Ancient Mayan civilizations at Tulum was a great
way to spend time off-gasing some nitrogen. And of course, there were
times we just had to relax on the powdery white beach and do nothing.
Thanks to all the Akumal group for a terrific time! Hope you enjoy the
photos

August
1999 - All Girls trip to La Paz!!
The Sea of Cortez remains
an unrivaled world-class dive destination for anybody seeking diverse
and exciting opportunities on every dive! We enjoyed three full days
of diving on the 50' Rio Rita. With 80+ degree water temperatures and
lots of sunshine, we enjoyed the best the Sea of Cortez has to offer.
On our El Bajo dive, we swam with over 50 hammerheads. It was the most
incredible dive! And playing with the giant Mantas at Isla Cerralvo
was just as amazing. Everywhere on the reef you can spot giant green
morays, puffer fish, scorpion fish and schools of brilliantly colored
tropical reef fish. It's one great dive after another. The town of La
Paz is just as friendly as the reef. With lots of great places to take
your well-deserved appetite, deciding where to eat will be the hardest
thing you've done all day. Just watch out for the tequila at Carlos
and Charlies!! We'll be going again August 2000! Hope you'll join us.

Turks and Caicos on the Peter
Hughes Liveaboard "Wind Dancer" May 1999
It was an incredible week on the "Wind Dancer". Pacific
Scuba Center had the entire boat chartered and with only 20 divers on
the 120' vessel we had way too much fun and lots of awesome diving. Most
divers made 4-5 dives every day with a night dive every night. We departed
from Grand Turk and had the opportunity to dive South Caicos, Long Cay
and Salt Cay. Eat, Sleep and Dive - for 6 days!! Here are some photos
from our week of diving. If you drop by the dive center, you can have
a look at the complete photo album or video from the trip.
Cayman Diving Lodge, Grand
Cayman - January 1999
In January, Jason and Lisa took 18 divers to Grand Cayman for an incredible
week of diving. What a fantastic trip! We stayed at the Cayman
Diving Lodge, which is a small, family owned, all inclusive diving lodge.
Cayman Diving Lodge is located directly on the beach at the East End.
The East End is an untouched paradise, free from the crowds of tourists
and divers. Thanks to all the cool divers for joining us on this
great adventure. Hope you'll enjoy these few photos. Drop
by the store to check out the complete "Cayman Album".
And if you didn't come with us on this trip, sign up now for the next
one so you don't miss out again. You'll have way too much fun!
