Rescue Diver
Develop Accident Prevention and Management Skills
The PADI Rescue Diver Course is an important and crucial step in expanding your
knowledge and experience beyond a purely recreational level. The PADI Rescue Diver rating
is a prerequisite for all PADI leadership training (Divemaster, Assistance Instructor,Water Instructor).
The PADI Rescue Diver Program is divided into two easy steps:
KNOWLEDGE DEVELOPMENT: This portion develops the
principals and information you need for preventing and handling dive emergencies. The
knowledge development portion is completed through independent study with the PADI Rescue
Diver Manual and the PADI Rescue Diver Video, and a review session with your instructor.
You need to complete the required reading and all the knowledge review homework pages
prior to the class review session. A final exam will be administered during the class
review session.
WATER TRAINING: During thewater training,
you'll apply the knowledge you've learned as you develop rescue skills. You'll spend a
morning at the "Kiddie Beach" where you'll practice skills in an actual diving
environment (without the waves and surge of other beach dive sites). You'll also spend the
day on one of the local dive charter boats applying your skills and practicing rescue
scenarios. Upon competion of the rescue scenarios, you'll be returning home with your PADI
Rescue Diver Certification!.
