PADI Divemaster & Assistant Instructor Training

PADI Divemaster Training

The goals of the PADI Divemaster course are as follows:

  1. To enable the candidate to organize, conduct and supervise diving activites.
  2. To enable the candidate to effectively act as an instructional assistant to a certified PADI Instructor.
  3. To develop the candidate's theoretical diving knowledge to a sufficient level to become an Instructor.
  4. To encourage and prepare the candidate for Instructor training.

To accomplish the above objectives, PADI Divemaster Training is divided into three modules:

Module One - Watermanship and Skills Assessment

  • To assess and provide remedial training in general watermanship, diving skills and rescue skills.
  • To develop proficiency in dealing with stress-inducing problems.

Module Two - Diving Knowledge Development

  Divemaster candidates will self-study and have instructor presentations for the topics of: the role and characteristics of a Divemaster, supervising general diving activities, assisting with student divers in training, dive theory, diving physics, diving physiology, dive equipment, diving skills and environment, decompression theory and the Recreational Dive Planner, divemaster conducted programs, risk management, the business of diving and your diving career.

Module Three - Practical Application

  Divemaster candidates will serve as an instructional assistant to a qualified PADI Instructor. The internship requires the Divemaster candidate to take part in several class, pool andwater training sessions.

Course Fee and Schedule

$449 includes all instruction, pool fees, and all course materials (Divemaster Manual, Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving, Diving Knowledge Workbook, Divemaster Video, Divemaster Slates and RDP Wheel). The course fee does not include boat trip fees and the PADI Divemaster application fee.

Because the nature of Divemaster training is so unique and because flexibility is needed, you may complete your training according to your schedule. This means you can START TODAY!

Prerequesites: be 18 years of age with a PADI Rescue Diver certification and have at least 20 logged dives.

Opportunities for the Professional

As a certified PADI Divemaster you may

  • supervise and assist with training activities
  • supervise and assist with non-training activities
  • be employed by a dive center or resort to help with classes or lead guided dive tours
  • conduct the PADI Discover Local Diving experience
  • conduct the Scuba Review Program
  • supervise the PADI Discover Snorkeling experience and PADI Skin Diver Course

Assistant Instructor Training

The goals of PADI Assistant Instructor training are as follows:

  1. To develop instructional assistant skills.
  2. To provide practical experience in teaching portions of various PADI courses.
  3. To provide practical experience in conducting skill development sessions andwater dives for various PADI courses.
  4. To familiarize you with PADI standards, administrative requirements and certification procedures.
  5. To prepare you for PADI instructor training.

To accomplish the above objectives, PADI Assistant Instructor training is divided into three modules:

Module One - Academic Training Sessions

  Your Course Director or IDC Staff Instructor will conduct presentations on the following: Course Orientation; The PADI System of Diver Education; Effective Academic Teaching Presentations; How to Organize and Conduct PADI Experience Programs and the Peak Performance Bouyancy Specialty Course; Teaching in Confined Water; and Conducting Water Training Dives.

Module Two - Independent Study

  Prior to each classroom session, you are expected to complete reading assignments and knowledge reviews.

Module Three - Practical Application

  During the practical application, you are expected to assist with three complete certification courses, attending all academic, confined water andwater training sessions.

Course Fee and Schedule

Course fee includes all instruction sessions, pool fees, and all course materials (Assistant Instructor Workbook and Instructor Manual, Best of the Undersea Journal, The Law and the Diving Professional, Peak Performance Bouyancy Specialty Instructor Outline). The course fee does not include boat trip fees and the PADI Assistant Instructor application fee.

All Assistant Instructor courses are taught privately so you can START TODAY!

Prerequisites: Must be 18 years of age and certified as a PADI Divemaster or leadership level with another recreational diver training organization and have at least 60 logged dives.

Opportunities for the Professional

PADI Assistant Instructor teaching opportunities include:

  • certifying students as PADI Peak Performance Bouyancy Specialty Divers
  • conducting the complete Discover Scuba experience
  • conducting the MEDIC FIRST AID Course (after additional training as a MFA Instructor)
  • certifying students in non-diving specialties such as Equipment Specialist
